Zerorez Commercial Carpet Cleaning has always been known for their excellent customer service and performance. A locally owned, operated and directed business, Zerorez is also into the business of giving back to the community- in a major way. Partnering with the Union Gospel Mission men’s shelter, Zerorez owner Jeremy McGee and Commerical Manager Grant Barnes took an average day on the job to an opportunity for others to learn valuable work skills.
“We’ve been donating our time and services cleaning carpets at UGM every four months for quite a while now,” Says McGee. “They like to keep their facility as clean and sanitary as possible. We knew they had some of their own in-house equipment and saw an opportunity to teach their residents how to use the equipment so they could maintain their carpets between visits,” he adds. “Not only that, them learning how to use the equipment provides excellent and applicable job skills. When the residents complete UGM’s program and get back into the job force, they have new knowledge they can take those skills with them. I mean, we live here, we work here, it makes absolute sense to help others in our community and better it.”
Commerical Manager Grant Barnes agrees wholeheartedly. “I couldn’t have been more pleased with the class turnout or how fast the men learned the information. We’re excited to teach more classes, and we’re always looking for new opportunities to help out and improve lives.
“Grant’s a stand up human being,” McGee comments. “Once I introduced him to Rob Meredith (UGM Custodial Services Manager) the initiative and passion to serve and positively impact the UGM just took over him. We are lucky to have someone of Grant’s caliber and spirit on our staff. His excitement and passion to serve is contagious in our office!”
Meredith also couldn’t be more pleased; “There has been a growing interest from our female residents as well, which we welcome wholeheartedly” he states. “We try to do everything we can to give them the most useful tools. An opportunity like this is quite a blessing.
Zerorez and UGM are both excited to continue teaching valuable life and work skills classes. “The Union Gospel Mission is about “Impacting Lives,” says Barnes. “We couldn’t agree more. We just want to know, how can we help? We’re on it.”
