I began searching for another job after a rather lengthy illness. I started searching through Craigs List when I happened upon a job opportunity working with International Student Exchange. After speaking with the Regional Manager a couple of times, I was hired. I was ecstatic! I was finally going to start drawing a paycheck again!
I placed my first student within a week of hire! Wow! I couldn’t believe it! This student was coming from Brazil to a little town West of Spokane called Reardan. When he arrived, I met with him. What an amazingly grounded young man! I placed several more students. My family and I decided to host a student ourselves. It is my philosophy that I shouldn’t ask people to do something that I wouldn’t be willing to do myself. So our first student arrived in August. He was from Belgium. We hit it off quickly. He was a polite and conscientious young man. He maintained his grades, participated in school events and most importantly became a part of my family. When he left to go home, I hauled 2 of his closes friends and my children to the airport for a tearful goodbye. We are still in touch. We chat weekly on Skype and through Facebook.
We are now awaiting the arrival of our next student. He is from Brazil. We are already establishing a relationship through email, Facebook and Skype. We are extremely excited for his arrival! He will be staying with us for the entire school year.
I am happy to say that this has become more than just a job to me! It has become an extension of my family and I couldn’t be happier!
This is a wonderful program that offers so much to our schools, community and families. Please consider hosting…..for more information contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://www.iserockymountainregion.com/
